In this post, we’ll show you what our last day of vacation in Malta looked like. There will be a lot of sun and lots of beautiful landscapes. It was our warmest day of the whole stay. We started it with a ferry crossing and a trip to Comino, which you’ll read about in another part of the report, and here we’ll show you how we spent the rest of the day.
Popeye Village
After returning to Malta, we went to see Popeye Village – an amusement park. It was created for the purpose of making the movie “Popeye”. It has the form of a village, which today is open to tourists, mainly children, as an entertainment complex. We park in the parking lot, but we don’t buy tickets, we just go up the road for a moment to take a picture of all Popeyes. I must admit that the filmmakers chose a beautiful place. Popeye Village (movie Sweetheaven) are located right on the sea, on the Anchor Bay.
Golden Bay – one of Malta’s most beautiful beaches
We have beautiful weather today, so finally it makes sense to go exploring the local beaches. Starting from Golden Bay, we leave the car in a free car park and go down to the beach. It is wide, sandy, you will find plenty of restaurants around. Above the rocks are several hotels. The place is very touristy, so you will not find peace here.
Due to the fact that sitting on the beach is not our style, we set off to explore the area. My goal is to find a path leading to the neighboring beach – Ghajn Tuffieha. You might as well go there by car, but it’s no pleasure. Don’t make this mistake, take my advice and go on foot. On the left side of Golden Bay there is a small path that leads up the hill. We climb it and in a moment we can see the whole Golden Bay from above. Isn’t the view wonderful?
We reach the very top. It’s hard for us to walk around when it’s so beautiful. We stop and take pictures every now and then, actually, I take them, because I’m the biggest photo freak here. The rest are a little impatient, but there is no way out and they wait for me, because in the end I’m the boss-guide here, and I know the plan of the trip.
First views of Ghajn Tuffieha
When we follow the trail along the sea, we pass one tower, and after a while the first views of the beach of Ghajn Tuffieha emerge. The rest of the company rush on, but me and Wojtek stop and admire the area. Thanks to this we have a portion of climatic photos to show. By the way, we look at paths in the distance. Can you see that rock on the right? We decide that we will come under it.
To go down to the beach, you need to move away from the sea for a moment and go a bit around, go through the parking lot and then turn right after it. This way you will be at the threshold of the stairs leading to Ghajn Tuffieha Bay.
We don’t stop with Wojtek on the beach. My dad has been rushing towards the interesting rock for a long time and we decide to follow him. Beata and Robert, in turn, stay on Ghajn Tuffieha. We walk through a narrow path. On the right we see the tower at which we took pictures, followed by the rocks from Golden Bay.
Viewpoint on Ghajn Tuffieha
We reach under the rock. The first thing that catches our eyes are “slides”. This is what Wojtek calls breaks in the ground, i.e. slides that can be pulled down to the sea. You can’t see it well, but it’s a little steep, so we skip this kind of entertainment. We’re not such crazy people. Instead, we tear off various nooks and cranks around the area, and then sit down for a moment under the rock. We admire the surrounding beaches and coves.
I urge Wojtek to try to go around the rock. We don’t quite manage to do it, because at some point the passage is blocked, but we still consider a short date successful. I may have only a slight hunger, because at first I assumed that we would also be able to reach Gnejna Bay beach. Paths also lead to it, which are even marked on google maps. Unfortunately, I am aware that we have traveled so many kilometers today that we simply cannot do it, and it is getting late.
Ghajn Tuffieha- sunset
After the walk, we sit down for a while, take the last pictures and go down to the beach, where the rest of the trip waits for us. Along the way, I take a few more shots of Wojtek as he descends on Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, and then one photo from the stairs.
The day is over and the sun set. I try to enjoy the last moments of my stay in Malta. We sit on the beach and wait for the sun to hide.
That would be all when it comes to the island of Malta. And as for the country of Malta, I will mention that you have the opportunity to see entries from the neighboring islands of Gozo and Comino, which delighted us.
Thank you for reading the entry!
If you think it is interesting, we would be pleased if you leave a mark in the comment.
